Homeopathy is a complementary and alternative medical system developed by Dr. Samuel Hahnemann in Germany over 200 years ago.

It is based on two core principles:

(i)  The "Law of Similars" (Like Cures Like): A substance that causes symptoms in a healthy person can, in very small doses, treat similar symptoms in a sick person. For example, homeopathic Allium cepa (made from red onion) is used for runny noses and watery eyes, symptoms similar to what cutting an onion causes.

(ii) The "Law of Infinitesimals" (Potentization): A substance is repeatedly diluted and vigorously shaken (a process called "succussion"). Homeopaths believe that this process not only makes the remedy safe but also enhances its healing energy or "vital force," even when no molecules of the original substance are likely to remain.

Remedies are derived from natural substances from the plant, mineral, or animal kingdoms (e.g., arnica, sulfur, onion, common salt). They are prepared through calculated dilution process of succussion. The final product is often prepared and dispensed into sugar pills, but they also come as liquids, tablets, or creams.

Yes, homeopathic remedies are safe from toxicity as they are highly diluted, the remedies themselves are generally considered physically non-toxic and have minimal chemical side effects.

Regulation varies greatly by country:

(i)   India & South Asia: Homeopathy is a formally recognized under National Commission for Homoeopathy (NCH) a national medical system, with its own dedicated government department and extensive integration into the healthcare system.

(ii) USA: The FDA regulates homeopathic remedies under the Homeopathic Pharmacopeia of the United States (HPUS). However, they are not evaluated for safety or efficacy like conventional drugs. The FTC requires that any product making health claims must have competent and reliable scientific evidence.

(iii) UK & EU: Regulated as medicines, but with special simplified registration processes that do not require proof of efficacy.

A classical homeopathic consultation is typically very long (45-90 minutes). The practitioner will ask detailed questions not only about your specific symptoms but also about your overall personality, food preferences, sleep patterns, emotional state, and reactions to your environment. The goal is to find the single, most appropriate "similimum remedy" that matches your total symptom picture.

People most commonly seek homeopathy for chronic, incurable or prolong symptoms or diseases to get effective relief in the symptoms severity or cure, especially when other system of treatment fails to give cure.

(i)   Homeopathy: Uses highly diluted preparations where the goal is not a biochemical action, but the stimulation of the body's self-healing response. A single remedy may be diluted to the point where not a single molecule of the original substance remains.

(ii) Herbal Medicine: Uses measurable, pharmacologically active doses of plant extracts (e.g., Echinacea, Valerian root) that can have physiological effects, side effects, and drug interactions.
